The film, released on July 29, 2026, features accounts from 10 women who describe encounters with Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. The allegations include sexual assault, statutory rape, grooming, and threats, with nine of the women sharing their stories publicly for the first time.
One accuser, identified as Isabel (not her real name), claims she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17. She described being lured into a hotel room by Leto, who was in his 30s at the time, and then being forced into a shower where he kissed her and used her hand to masturbate himself. She only later discovered his age, she said. Another woman, Alex, alleged that Leto threatened her with sexual assault in 2013 after inviting her to a hotel room under the pretense of a party. Two former crew members of Thirty Seconds to Mars described discomfort with Leto’s interactions with teenage fans, including inviting them backstage and to private gatherings. One crew member noted that the age gap between Leto and the young women “was way too big.”
Leto has not responded to the allegations, and his representatives have not commented on the BBC’s claims. This is not the first time he has faced such accusations.
