The company also announced a temporary Final Fantasy X-themed museum in Shinjuku, Tokyo, running from September 12 to 27, 2026. Attendees will have access to exhibits and commemorative merchandise, with fan art submissions accepted until July 31.

The game’s original release in Japan on July 19, 2001, marked its debut on the PlayStation 2 and introduced a direct sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, in 2003. The 25th-anniversary celebrations include a range of merchandise, such as apparel, iPhone cases, and water bottles, available through the Square Enix Store and Amazon.

Switch 2 Version Launches on July 23, 2026

The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2026. Pre-orders for the physical edition grant a digital wallpaper bonus, while Japanese Amazon customers will receive exclusive stickers. No upgrade path is available for owners of the Switch 1 version of the remaster.

The physical edition of the Switch 2 version will be sold as a “key card,” a format previously used for Nintendo titles. Fans who pre-order the digital version can access it on July 23, while the physical copy will follow on August 27.
