Clapham shooting leaves 25-year-old man dead outside south London pub

A 25-year-old man is understood to have died after a shooting outside the Landor Pub in Clapham North, south London. The incident occurred near the junction of Willington Road and Landor Road, with locals reporting multiple loud bangs at around 10pm on Monday. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene within three minutes, but despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead. A forensic tent has been set up on the pavement outside the Fenwick Estate, and a police cordon remains in place as investigation work is carried out. According to a London Ambulance Service spokesperson, "We were called at 9:59pm on Monday, 10 August to reports of a shooting on Landor Road, SW9. We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and paramedics in fast response cars. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene." Locals described hearing several bangs, with one resident saying, "It was shortly after 10pm and I heard lots of sirens, and I heard bangs - I think it was five or something." Another resident reported hearing four loud bangs, while a witness told Metro that they heard "four pops" which they initially thought were fireworks. A resident who lives nearby said they were walking up Landor Road to the shop when they heard two loud bangs coming from Willington Road. They saw a man running away and shouting something twice, but did not know what he was saying. The resident then saw the victim lying on the floor looking up and realized what had happened. The shooting has left the local community in shock, with many expressing concern for the safety of their families and children. A shaken resident said, "It's sad what happened, that someone lost a life." Community leader Pastor Lorraine, a London-based anti-knife crime activist, said, "The scenes of body tents, blood and forensic evidence in our communities are horrifying and deeply traumatising. In our inner-city communities, where residents and families live so closely together, the impact of such violence reaches far beyond the immediate crime scene." Specialist forensics teams are now scouring the scene for evidence, and nearby homes with Ring doorbells have been visited by police. The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service have both been contacted for comment. As the investigation continues, the community is left to process the devastation and try to come to terms with what happened. Pastor Lorraine added, "It is the school summer holidays, and many children who have not travelled away will be waking up and looking out of their windows to this horrific scene. No child should have to witness this. It is heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends who are grieving, traumatised and in complete shock right now." The Metropolitan Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and a forensic analysis of the scene is underway. The police are also reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and Ring doorbells to try to piece together what happened. A source close to the investigation told MyLondon, "Specialist forensics teams have started working to secure evidence and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Nearby houses with ring doorbells were immediately visited by officers in order to obtain any available footage." For now, the community is left to mourn the loss of a young life and to try to find a way to move forward in the face of such tragedy.
